Chris is playing football. Not the football that you would think, but soccer. Some of the parents from Taylors soccer team decided to join the Adult league. His first game was this week and it was a lot of fun. He managed to not get hurt so that is a good thing! Go Shamrock Rovers!

Marbles Earned

Most of you know about Chloe and her blanket. She refused to leave the house without it and if you forgot it, you would be goin home to get it. It has patches and holes but she loves it. In an attempt to get her to leave it at home and only use it to sleep with we came up with an idea. Every time she left it at home she got a marble in a jar. When the jar was full she would get to go to Build A Bear. She did it! She is such a big girl. There were many tears cried but the blanket now stays inside and she is not quite as attached.....note the color of the bear

Costa Rica

Ok - so I am a little behind! We went to Costa Rica in February for 10 fabulous days. It was a bit of a cultural shock and first but we adjusted and had a great time. We stayed with Chris's Uncle Luis and Aunt Lenor for the first couple of days. We went to the Rain Forest and toured the city of San Jose. Then we stayed at the Marriott (near Jaco) on the beach for the rest of the trip. It was beautiful! We saw a lot of iguanas, some crocodiles, monkeys, toucan's, frogs and snakes. The beaches were mostly black sand from the volcano's.

Grandma Nayu came with us and was a big help with the girls. They stayed in and order pancakes for dinner a couple of nights so Chris and I could go out.

Chris, Taylor, Carley and I all went zip lining. There were 14 platforms so it took an hour or so but it was a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time in the pool just relaxing. The best part about our trip was our PHONES DIDN'T WORK!

SANTA PLEASE!

Both Carley and Chloe had cute school Christmas programs where they sang a lot of songs and a surprise visitor came at the end.....SANTA! Chloe asked for a ZHU ZHU pet and Carley asked for a reindeer webkinz. Then on Saturday they got to visit again with Santa at the Ward Christmas Party. Cousin Ryker joined them and they all had a great time. 4 more days till Christmas.....Santa please come!

In Memory of Grandma

Grandma Mitchell Pop passed away peacefully on Sunday November 29th. She had recently suffered a stroke which left her not being able to speak. It was heart breaking to visit her as she got so frustrated with the situation. At the funeral they asked the Grandchildren to tell some of their memories, here is what I came up with

"My memories of Grandma always included Pop. In the later years she was his everything - or should I say he was her everything. Pop was her chauffeur, her personal chef her maid but most of all her sweetheart. It only took us a few years after pop had died to figure out why he never fixed his hearing aid. Grandma loved to chit chat and he would have never had a silent moment or got a word in edgewise.

There were a few things you could always count on when you went to visit Pop and Grandma
**A trip to the cookie jar filled with vanilla creme cookies
** A glass of milk with dinner
**The house being nice and toasty
**Pickles in the fridge and oat bran in the drawer
**The TV on as loud as could be
**A fresh coat of paint.....somewhere
**The swing on the clothesline or a climb up the apple tree
but most of all you could always count on a smile and a hug right when you walked in the door.

The day my dad died, a piece of Grandma died too. Oh how she missed him and Pop. One has to believe that last Sunday was one of the happiest days of Grandmas life. A day filled with many sweet reunions. Though she will be missed she is finally back where she needs to be. Grandma - today a piece of us will go with you until we meet again."

The great grandchildren also sang "Grandmother" from the primary song book.

All of the Grandchildren were there to say goodbye to a wonderful lady. I will miss you Grandma!

We decided to head North for the holiday this year. We had a really good time at Grandma Char's house. We went trick or treating with Dani and Trax and it got a little chilly. We took the kids on a haunted hayride in Enoch and they didn't care for it much. Chloe hid under her blanket and Carley was crying. Trax was in awe from all of the tractors. We also had an opportunity to go the the SUU soccer game and football game.

For my Birthday this year Chris bought me Tim McGraw tickets. There is just something about Tim in his tight pants and cowboy hat that a girl can't resist. The concert was outdoors at the M Resort. We couldn't have asked for better weather.

RUN BABY RUN

So I talked Chris into running the Las Vegas Ragnar with me this time. We had a great time! Jasmine and Cousin Nat also decided to join us this time. The terrain just isn't the same as the Wasatch Back but it was still a good time. The race started in Logandale and went out around Lake Mead thru Henderson and ended at the Red Rock Casino for a wonderful 180 miles! Can't wait for the next one....ha ha.

MILEY CYRUS CONCERT

Can you imagine the Thomas & Mack center full of screaming girls for 2 plus hours? What we do for our children :)

Chris and I took ALL three girls to the Miley Cyrus concert. It was a first for all of them. I actually think Chloe enjoyed it the most. The first band was a little much and the girls didn't really care for them as they wanted to see Miley (aka Hannah Montana). We had great seats just to the side of the stage about 7 rows up. The stage and the dancers were fun to watch. They girls picked out a t-shirt which they had to wear. All in all, we had a great time together.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

School started the last week in August (I KNOW...THAT WAS 6 WEEKS AGO!). Taylor is now in 5th grade aT Bass Elementary. This year is special because her cousin, Payton, is at her school and in her class. I went to school with a couple of my cousins and it is so fun to be together to share those experiences.

Carley in now in Kindergarten at Challenger. I am amazed at how smart she really is. Something has clicked over the past month that I really had not notices before. She is doing her homework with little assistance from me. She is a reading machine.

Chloe also started the Challenger pre-school program. She is learning all of the letters and their sounds. I think she enjoys it for the most part but really struggles some mornings when I have to leave her.

Summer Vacation

What a view - This is off the back deck of Karries home in Park City

We took a week off for a wonderful little vacation this year. We had originally planned on going to California but things came up so we changed our plans and went to Park City, Utah. One of our really good friends offered to let us stay in one of her beautiful homes up on the mountain. It was gorgeous! We went to Hoogle Zoo, Lagoon, Raging Waters and the Park City Alpine Slide. For those of you who have never done the Alpine slide and roller coaster I highly recommend it. It was my favorite part of the trip! The roller coaster was such a rush because you can control how fast you go. I took Carley down once and Chloe down once and both of them wanted to "go faster mom!". We met up with Cole and Annilee at the zoo and really enjoyed seeing all of the animals. The Ballards came up on Tuesday for the rest of the week and went to Lagoon and Raging Waters with us too. It was beautiful weather and we couldn't have had a better time. We stopped in Cedar on the way home to go fishing at Navajo. Good times!

Happy Birthday Chloe - It didn't make sense to do anything other than a dress up party. Dress up is your favorite thing to do every day. We provided all the dress ups, did all of your guests hair, make-up and nails. Each of you got to strut your stuff during a fashion show and then we ended the party with a little tea party luncheon. Whew....what a day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAYLOR! I can't believe it has been 10 years since you were born. You are such a great daughter and sister! Mom went a little crazy this year for your party. We decided to do a Fear Factor party. We tie died shirts for all of the guest so they wouldn't ruin their clothes with blood and guts :). For challenges we did

CABIN FUN

We are making progress.

Last year the outside of the cabin was finally completed so this year we are trying to make the inside livable (cabin style).

Last weekend we worked on finishing the ceiling. We were short help so Buddy and I cut the boards and Brennan and Josh nailed them in. We got the better end of the deal!

This was not much fun for the kids so we took a break and went to the pond to catch some frogs. Taylor likes to catch them but does not like to touch them. Carley loves to hold them but can't catch them and Chloe....well she prefers neither. Dani Gramma and Trax went along with us.

Dancing the day away

It was that time of year again for the annual dance recital. The girls had been preparing for months for this big day. They all did so good!

Taylor has been taking gym for 3 years and she can already to 8 back handsprings in a row! She loves it and is always doing fips anytime she can. She also did 4 scaffling dances as well.

Carley has been taking tap, ballet and gym for the past three years and likes it for the most part. She perfomed a tap dance for the recital.

This was Chloes first year. I contemplated even letting her do it as I was not sure if she would go through with it. She did and she did such a good job! My little angel did a ballet dance to "She looks like and angel"

REPEAT CHAMPS

The WILDCATS did it again. Taylor's soccer team won the Henderson Cup for her age division. We ended the season with a 8 - 1 - 1 record.

Taylor played fabulous of course. For those of you who have never watched her play, she is truly amazing. During the championship game we ended the first half tied 1 to 1. The parents really didn't know what to expect as this was not the outcome we had hoped for. It turned out it just took them a little while to warm up and we ended up scoring 5 more times

For a little surprise afterwards we treated the girls to a limo ride for ice cream. They were so excited. Her coaches, Cole Boren and Allen, taught her so much over the past two seasons. Taylor was asked to play on the Henderson Heat team next season. We are excited but a little nervous about the time commitment as SHE IS ONLY NINE! Taylor we are very proud of you.

I survived........

The Wasatch Back 188 mile relay. There were 12 of us on a team and we each ran 3 different legs. It took us a little over 31 hours to run the entire race. It was so fun and challenging. My friend Karrie Sue and my little bro Kade also ran on my team. We drug Chris, Shawna and Annilee along to drive the van and provide us water and snacks while we ran. They got a good workout too. My mom and Karries mom make us snack lunches and a fabulous BBQ dinner when it was all over.

We had so much fun we signed up to do it again in October.....in VEGAS!!

Remembering Red Cliffs

Brittnie and I decided to escape the heat and head to Cedar for a couple of days with the kids. We planned on taking our time and stopping along the way. We stopped in St. George to go to Paula's and then off to Red Cliffs. Red Cliffs is a place we visiting often growing up from field trips in elementary to Senior Sluff Day as Seniors in High School. This is even where Chris and I took our engagement pictures.

I mentioned to Taylor that we used to catch tadpoles and frogs there and so she came prepared with a Tupperware container. When we got there we were very surprised at the lack of water. We walked up the trail to the pond and there wasn't a drop of water along the way. Because it was 90 degrees and both Buddy and I had a child on our hip we turned around before we actually made it to the ponds.

We didn't find any tadpoles but we did see a lot of Crawdads. Taylor caught 2 small ones and insisted that we take them up to Grandmas. She tried to sell them the next day at her bake sale but no one wanted them. Good times.

Coming Off

Chloe finally got her cast off on May 28th. She had it on for three weeks. Bless her heart she was so good with it. She never complained...even when she couldn't swim. The Dr. told us to prepare her about the "saw" and the "noise" when they take off the cast. Chloe was such a trooper. She just watched and never made a peep. After she got it off we had to go and get a special splint made. We have to go back to the Dr. on Wednesday to make sure everything still looks good.

Spring Program

Carley had her Spring Program today at Challenger School. It was really cute. They sang nine different songs. Some had some actions and little dance moves. She has learned so much this year. She can read any 4 letter word and has some books she can read from cover to cover. She can also do single digit math problems. Carley and Josie have been in the same preschool class for two years. They have really enjoyed seeing each other and being together. She is going to miss her next year!

I NEED A GIRLS TRIP

A couple of my friends go to Florida every year for a little girls trip. This year I decided to join them. It was filled with lots of sun at the beach, relaxing, chatting and watching the sunset into the ocean every night. I went with Shawna, Karrie, Annilee and Nikki. Karrie made arrangements for us to stay at a beach house she use to own in Clearwater Beach. It is a little island off of Florida and we were surrounded by water. Despite Annilees attempt to get us all to wear 80 SPF, we all got a little fried. The water was clear, warm and beautiful. Annilee and I promised our kids that we would bring them home some sea shells so as we were hunting we found that most of them were occupied. (with what we don't know). Some of them had squiggly eyes, others were just plain slimy and one was a pinchy little crab. Karrie didn't appreciate that we were killing all of the sea critters so she put her foot down and told us no more! We had a great time and really enjoyed each others company. I can't wait until next year. I wouldn't miss it again. 5/14/09 - 5/18/09

Breakin Records

Taylor is such a great kid. She always excels at what ever she does. She has had straight A's since entering school. She is awesome at soccer, gymnastics and piano. She just has the talent and ability to catch on fast and she is incredibly athletic. She broke the 4th grade record for running the mile in 6 minutes 56 seconds. It was a standing record for 9 years at 7 minutes 19 seconds. She was just short of beating the school record. At field day she won the pacer run and the mile run and placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash. I am so proud of her and all of her accomplishments. Your sisters have a hard act to follow.

LIPSTICKS SOCCER

This was my second season coaching the Lipsticks and they kicked butt! Every game but one we won by at least 10 points. They played awesome all season long. Carley figured out that she is pretty darn fast and had some great runs up the field to score. When she watches the ball instead of her teammates there is no stopping her. She ended up scoring 45 points total for the season. Way to go Carley!

Broken Arm

I am MOTHER OF THE YEAR! The girls were all watching cartoons and playing in the game room while I was getting ready for the day. Chloe starting crying and I could hear Taylor yelling so I came in to see what all of the commotion was. Well, Chloe had fallen off of a 1-foot little Tyke slide in the game room and was saying her arm hurt. I compared it to the other arm and it was not swollen, it was not red or bruised and she could move all of her fingers. So I gave her an ice pack and sent her off to school. Well, I got a call from her teacher about 5 hours later saying that she was really favoring her arm and not using it for anything. So I headed to the school to pick her up. I called Chris on the way for his opinion and all I got from him was...."Don't tell me it is broken and you took her to school with a broken arm....I am so MAD". Yeah, you know I had so much important stuff to do that I decided to take her while I sit home and eat bon bons!

I got an appointment with a pediatric hand specialist to try and avoid the ER. Sure enough it was broken right above her wrist. The Dr. called it a buckle break. I felt so bad. She got to pick the color of her cast and she has to have it on 3 weeks. She is doing very well with it so far. One more week and counting until she can get it off.

Naughty Leprechaun

Our home was visited by a naughty little leprechaun last night. Boy did he make a mess! There were little green footprints all over the floor, windows and doors. All of the pillows were off of the couches and the table chairs were all tipped over. There were books, papers and dolls everywhere!. The girls were so surprised and couldn't believe what a mess he made. Chloe kept saying "this house is a mess"! He even made our milk turn green! The leprechaun left a rainbow of skittles scattered around the house. Happy St Patricks Day!

After a year of saving and planning we finally made it to Hawaii.

DAY ONE: The trip started with a limo ride to the airport. We stopped at Dunken Donuts and girls felt like movie stars. They were so excited to get on the airplane. The flight there seemed to take forever. Because of a strong head wind it took an extra hour and that was a long time with three kids. Once we got there and got checked into our hotel we went and has some yummy fish and chips while watching the sun set.

DAY TWO: The next day we headed to Hanaumu Bay. This has been one of my favorite places to snorkle but this particular day the water wasn't very clear. The girls were kinda freaked out about the reef and the creatures living on it. The girls loved playing on the beach and we all had a great time.

DAY THREE: We spent the first half of the day at the beach playing in the sand. Later that afternoon we took a bus to Paradise Cove Luau. The luau was the favorite part of the trip for the girls. They got to take hold and take pictures of some tropical birds, go canoeing and play some games. During the dinner show Chris and the girls went on stage and learned the hula.

DAY FOUR - We took the circle island tour that went to the north shore and the Polynesian Cultrual Center. We also go to go by the Mormon temple which is being totally renovated and will not open until 2010. At the Cultral Center we visited, Somoa, Tonga, Tihiti and New Zealand. We also watched a canoe parade.

DAY FIVE - We were going to go whale watching but after a couple of hours on a bus the day before we decided to just relax by the pool at the hotel. Much to our surprise when we went down they had drained the pool! So we went to the beach and then to the pool at a sister hotel across the street. The tide came in later that day and the girls had a blast body surfing. Boy did they giggle.

DAY SIX - Up at 5:00 AM to catch an 8:00 flight....what was I thinking! The flight home only took about 5.5 hours.

We enjoyed having Grandma Char with us. It was a big help to have one child per adult. She even let Chris and I go to dinner by ourselves one night!

Pony Party

Carley has been talking about her 5th birthday party for the past year. Despite the weather scare it turned out to be a wonderful day. We had her party at the McKee Ranch not too far from the house. There were a lot of horses, goats, a pig, a donkey a couple of bunnies and a lamb. This kids got to feed the animals carrots and ride the pony...PUFFY. We had a great turn out and Carley had a fabulous time. Happy Birthday Carley!

Another one bites the dust

Most of you know my very traumatic experience with my phone and the elevator shaft. If you don't here is a recap....We were on our way to Park City and we were running a little bit late and couldn't find a parking spot at the airport. I drop Shawna and Annilee off and told them to go ahead and check in and I would catch up with them. Immediately after dropping them off I found a spot, so I parked, grabbed my suitcase and ran to the elevator. I grabbed my phone to call Shawna to find out where they were and oops it slipped right out of my hands down a one inch hole just as the elevator doors closed. I was going down and for some reason thought my phone would be there when I got down. To make a long story short it was not. I had to go on vacation with out it but when I returned I picked it up at the lost and found in a baggy! This was in September.

So last week I was outside playing with the kids and my phone rang. I answered it and talked for a couple of minutes then placed in on top of the hood of my car. A couple of hours later I realized it was pretty quiet so I called myself and it went straight to voicemail. I knew exactly what had happened. I had ran one quick errand in between all of this and it was lying in the road. So I jump in the car and retraced my path. I found it about 1 mile from home. It had been ran over several times.

I hope three is a charm because Chris is going to kill me if I ruin another one.

Here she comes MISS AMERICA

And the winner is......my friend Karrie got us tickets to the Miss American pageant. Karries friend works with the Childrens Miracle Network and so we had an in. Our seat were only about 10 rows up. It was so fun to watch all of the girls. Taylor wanted Miss Florida or Hawaii to win but Miss Indiana did a great job! Afterwards, we hung around to try and find Slater (Mario Lopez). Taylor was more excited about getting a picture with him than anyone else. We watch Saved by the Bell every morning.

CRAZY GIRLS

We went skiing again this past weekend. I have tried off and on to learn to snowboard but I just can't pick it up. After 20 years I decided to try skiing again and it was actually really fun. Taylor, Carley and Payton all went to ski school for most of the day but I got them out early to come and hang out with Chris and I. Carley, was going so fast down the hill that I thought I was going to have a panic attack. She LOVED it and wanted to go again and again. She thought it was more fun to go with Chris because he let her go fast. Taylor is a pro by now and spends most of her time on Giant Steps. Payton is also learning how to snowboard and after only a couple of times is doing pretty good. Needless to say at the end of the day we purchased helmets for both of the girls. GEEZ....little kids have no fear!

LUCY - LUCY - LUCY

I am finally getting used to my 4th child, LUCY. I knew it was going to be hard work but getting up at nights again really isn't that much fun. She is actually a really good puppy with a great personality. She is growing up so fast!

BrianHead Fun

While we were in Cedar we took Taylor and Carley skiing. Taylor has been skiing for about 4 years and this was Carleys second time. Taylors class went to Giant Steps for the day so I was not able to find or watch her. She is growing up too fast! I stayed on the Bunny hill with Carley. She did great. The other kids in her class were just not into it so it was a little slow for her as they had to keep repeating everything. One of her instructors could tell she was a little more advanced than the rest of the kids so he pulled her aside and took her on two runs with just him. She is doing great and will be moving up a level when we go this week.

Chris and Taylor went again the following day and had a blast. Taylor has no fear and went down most of the runs on the Mountain.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

We decided to head to Utah this year for Christmas and spend it in our Condo in Cedar. Unfortunately, I got the flu the week before Christmas and the day we headed up to Cedar the rest of the family (besides Chris) got it. It made for a long couple of days stuck inside with a new puppy and a lot of cold weather outside. By the time Christmas came we were all feeling better. Santa made a surprise visit on Christmas Eve at Uncle Steve's house so the girls were ready to head home and get in bed so he could come back. Santa was very good to everyone! Taylor got an IPod, DS games, and a Karaoke machine. Carley got a Hannah Montana Wig, and a Baby Bath. Chloe got a lot of C-nani dolls (princess's). We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas

Santa Surprise

After years of begging and pleading Taylors dream of having a puppy finally came true! Santa surprised the girls and brought a puppy on the 20th of December. He said it was just getting too cold at the North Pole and he didn't want her to get forgotten in the cold. The girls named her Lucy Ellie Garza. She is just the sweetest little puppy. She is very mellow and loves to sleep, snore and fart....boy does she stink. We are still trying to house train but she does pretty good for the most part.

SNOW DAY

Las Vegas had there first official "snow day" since 1979. We had almost 5 inches of snow fall Wednesday night and it caused havoc on the city. Because Las Vegas doesn't usually get any snow at all the city is not equipped with snow plows. The girls had a blast playing in the snow and we actually still have a couple of inches in the yard. The girls made a cute little snowman the following morning.

SOOOO....after days of waiting I finally went to the Twilight movie. I now have to re-read the first book to fill in the blanks and to remember who was who. My good friend Annilee (AJ) organized this great girls night out and bought us all black T-Shirts to decorate in the Twilight theme. As you can see we are a creative bunch! We took Char along for a special Birthday Celebration and a date with Edward. I really liked the movie. It was interesting to see the individuals who played the characters because they were not what I had imagined from reading the book. I really liked the movie and can't wait until the next one comes out.

Carley Jo - is such a crack up. She is always doing something to make us laugh. This was her latest attempt at Santa Claus. The girls were having a fashion show and this is what Carley came up with.

The other night Carley was in the bath tub and Chris walked by to put some things away in his closet. Chris had his hat sitting on top of his head not pulled all of the way down. Carley looked at him and said "dad, you look like a dog". Chris looked at her confused and she said " ya know...like what up DAWG". We laughed until we cried.

SOCCER CHAMPIONS

Wow - what a weekend!! Taylor's soccer team, The Wildcats, played in the Henderson Cup and after 5 tough games WE WON! It has been an amazing season with The Wildcats. We went 8 -1 for the season with Taylor being the scoring machine. It has been so fun to watch Taylor become an awesome soccer player this year. She gets all of her talent from me (LOL). She definitely gets her speed and determination for the game from her Dad. We are so proud of her. Way to go Taylor.

We have another future soccer star in the making, Carley. This was her first year playing with the Lipsticks....Carley picked the name herself. I volunteered to coach not quite knowing what to expect but it was a really good experience. The Lipsticks went 8-1 as well. Carley scored her share of goals and always did a victory cheer afterwards. That she did get from me.

I don't know what I will do in a couple of years with all three of them playing!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of the Veterans out there. My little brothers were gone over the holidays two years ago. I can't believe it has been that long. I am sure glad they are home. I am very proud of them and the decision they made to defend this great Country. I love you guys!

THE POLAR EXPRESS

We took the kids to the Polar Express last Friday in Williams AZ. They had a blast. I decided not to tell them until the night before we went so they wouldn't drive me crazy AND it would be a fun surprise for them too. They watch the movie on the way there so they were ready when we arrived. Carley couldn't wait to see the train and put her PJ's on. When we finally got on the train they served us Hot Chocolate (our favorite) and cookies. Then they read the Polar Express and we sang Christmas carols until SANTA finally showed up. He gave each child a bell just like in the movies. Once we got off the train, the kids were able to go and have their picture taken with Santa.....what a night! We went with our good friends Kyle and Jen. They have kids similar is age so everyone had a great time.
